The Rundown
The Honda Accord is one of the most popular sedans in America, and continues to win awards for its performance in the market and as a family sedan. This venerable sedan continues to outperform many in the market and does a great job at devoting itself to providing the car the consumer wants. The Accord has seen many changes over the years, and getting a used one is more a matter of finding the combination of styling, price, and features by year. This buying guide is geared towards finding the proper Honda Accord for you.
2023 Honda Accord
The Honda Accord has been completely redesigned for the 2023 year. Not much is known about this model year other than that they are trimming down their available engine options as part of the current supply chain issue. We have seen pictures of the upcoming Accord and we can affirmatively say that this is the prettiest sedan yet, and Car and Driver has even said that this is one of their top 10 best vehicles of 2023. Although this most definitely won’t be found as previously-owned for a few years, the change is very interesting and it is just a fun car to look at.
2018 – 2022 Honda Accord
This Accord is fairly similar to previous generations, but Honda has trimmed off some of their less profitable options and features. The coupe has gone away, as the sedan was the main vehicle consumers consistently purchased year after year. The 1.5 liter engine outputs 192 horses, 2.0 gets 252 horses and the hybrid gets 212 horses. This is the largest Accord generation excluding the 2023 model year, but also much lighter than the previous generations.
2013 – 2017 Honda Accord
This generation emphasized its stately manner, while doing away with some of the childish exterior design cues of the past. This generation still featured a standard transmission across its lineup, it was featured on the newly minted Sport trim. The hybrid version can get up to 50 mpg in town on certain model years. The V6 was still present on this year’s lineup of the Accord and would be its last generation. Style is very similar to the previous generation although heavily refreshed.
2008 – 2012 Honda Accord
The V6 is present in this generation and offered a pairing to a manual transmission. The Honda Accord became a full size sedan in this generation, and even featured a Crosstour version in 2010 for added practicality.
2002 – 2007 Honda Accord
The first generation where a consumer could purchase a V6 manual transmission coupe. A hybrid was introduced in this generation and gave boosted power to the lineup. However, it was eventually removed from the lineup. Engines were improved across the lineup, and even featured a 3.0 liter VTEC V6 which produced 240 horsepower.
1998 – 2002 Honda Accord
This Accord can still be found with less than 100,000 miles, and some can be found with 200,000 plus due to their incredible reliability. This generation saw the axing of a wagon body style, and featured only coupe and sedan styles. These feature older Accord design cues that Honda has gone away from, with a hood that starts small and gets a little taller. The highest output engine was a 3.0 liter V6 that output 200 horses.
Summary
The Honda Accord continues to dominate the market as one of the most popular sedans in America. Honda Accords are known to run well after 200,000 miles with a bit of care and maybe a couple transmissions. The Honda Accord can most definitely be found in good condition from any generation.
